Happy Birthday to Adrian- only 2 months away from one year!
Great accomplishments include actually trying to crawl on his knees yesterday. He would do so for about 6 steps and then revert to the army crawl.
He also learned how to sit up on his own (from the belly crawl position). I went to get him after a nap yesterday and there he was, sitting up waiting for me.
Finally, he can now try out to be part of a water ski troupe. A few days ago, he crawled off the bed on his belly, walked (while holding on to the bed) about 3 feet to the wall and wanted to sit down. Not knowing how to balance his body back and plop, he grabbed ahold of the phone connection plugged into the phone jack with one hand and then proceeded to let go of the bed completely to hold on to the phone connection with BOTH hands. His body was leaning back and the jack looked like it was going to give in any moment now. He looked like he was water skiing.
He finally lowered himself down to the floor. Too cute!
Teeth: still has his two teeth- which he uses to devour cheerios, apples, pears, baby biscuits, wheat bread, and tortillas. He also still uses them to nurse when the milk doesn't come out right away- Ouch!
Shoes- after loosing his brown sandals, we went on a treasure hunt for shoes that fit him and were under $30- harder than you think. We finally settled on some adorable shoes from The Children's Place. We ordered the 12-18 month shoe size from the website. When we got them, he almost didn't fit into them! Darn. Back to the hunt.
Sleep- although he goes down like a champ for his two day time naps- he puts himself to bed after singing and talking on his own in his crib, his night time sleep is a struggle. He cries until we get him and put him on our bed. He proceeds to play, roll, poke our eyes, while we lie there hostage wondering when he is finally going to fall asleep. We finally surround the bed with pillows like a fort and let him be. He passes out and around 11 pm we transfer him to his crib.
Around 4:30 AM, he cries for us/food and he stays with us until the morning- waking up and rolling around in between. Not the best of rest but oh well.
