As exhausted as I am from this weekend as I am not used to caring for the two boys on my own for two days straight, I need to take a step back and reflect on all the blessings we have had, have right now, and will have in the very near future. First, the biggest blessing has been the growth of the Martinez family to include the Double A's (thanks, Sophia, for the nick name)! They truly love each other and their parents and we love them right back.
Additionally, as crazy as it is to have the job I have, it has allowed us to make decisions like the ones we have made recently, to relocate to Austin. I'm pretty sure most of you know this but if you don't, we fly into Austin on Memorial Day weekend with ONE WAY tickets. Goodbye Chicago!
Leaving Chicago will be very bittersweet - I have some of the best memories of my life here. In the last 11 years I still relish my faves: meeting Luis, having the two little ones enjoy the sights, finishing grad school, starting a career and being a home owner. Some of the friends we have made here will be sorely missed.
This weekend, Luis flew in on a whirlwind trip to Austin to find a home for us. Thanks to Marah for hosting and driving and accompanying him in making a decision that was no doubt a difficult one. But the trip was a success in that our new address (at least for the next year) is the following:
11202 Holster Ct, Austin, TX 78748
As this home is bigger than I expected our budget could get us, we will not be cramped if someone decided to pop in for a visit. Be warned, however, I don't know how we are going to be able to furnish it so the accommodations may be a bit sparse.
In closing - In exactly 7 days, our little A will turn 4 months. I took him to his doc's appt today and learned he is at the 95% in weight, 75% in length, and 50% in head circumference. He is doing great developmentally as well. Recently, he has started to try to sit up on his own when he is being leaned back - he will push his chest and head forward (while we carry him, during his bath time, etc). He continues to sing quite loudly at random times. He is a vivacious character who loves a good laugh and squeal. He also reminds me of a little crab because he appears to be peering out with his little beady black eyes!
Adrian - our big A is doing much better. It's been 3 days now with NO peeing accidents (not even at school). I don't know what did it, probably him just deciding he wasn't going to let them happen anymore. Adrian is also getting to the point where he is so grown up in so many ways. Perhaps it's just the way he communicates but his thought process is so crystal clear that I wish some adults I know could think like him. I love the way he is great at soccer, football, wrestling, and being a very affectionate person.
I hope to hear back from everyone on how they are doing!
